After All Tomorrow is Another Day of More Favorite Book Quotes

Welcome to this week’s Marketing For Romance Writer’s 52-week Blog Challenge with the topic of Favorite Book Quotes. Really #MFRW? Didn’t I punish entertain everyone enough last week when I admitted to being a quote-a-colic? But if I’m to be forced to indulge in any addiction, I supposed quotes wouldn’t be too bad. Unless it got to the point that I just started spouting off quotes as if they erupted like they were my normal conversation? But then I thought, “My dear, I don’t give a damn!” (Gone With The Wind)

“So Many Books, So Little Time.” (Frank Zappa)

Like most writers, I love words.“Words are in my not so humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic.” (Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone) Therefore I’m constantly jotting down book quotes. A line from a movie or a television show is quickly stored in the notes section of my phone. I hoard sticky notes

with coveted words and expressions. Although unfortunately, my terrible handwriting sometimes makes them difficult to read later. But I review some of these quotes when I’m writing a story for inspiration. Because it seems as if I’m always writing something because, “There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” (I know Why the Caged Bird Sings)

“Get busy living or get busy dying.” (The Shawshank Redemption)

As you know, I love paranormal and fantasy books and movies. Therefore, much of the quotes that stick with me tend to be a little on the darker side—or a bit magical. Words that make you look beyond the ordinary. Like how I know “The thing under my bed waiting to grab my ankle isn’t real. I know that, and I also know that if I’m careful to keep my foot under the covers, it will never be able to grab my ankle.” (Night Shift)

Most nights I could banish the thought from my mind, because “I’d owned the night for years. I wouldn’t let it terrorize me.” (Evil Speaks Softly)

But I still have some nights that my imagination gets the best of me. After reading, writing and watching so much paranormal you do tend to question every shadow or bump in the night. Before I spend too much time dwelling on that feeling, I turn on the lamp. Because,“But you know, happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.” (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban)

“Magic wasn’t bad or evil. It just was.” (Grandma Must Die)

“People see what they want to see. If they don’t want to believe something, their mind rationalizes it somehow until it fits into their ordinary world.” (Grandma Must Die) Imagination is a powerful thing. So Book Titlerather than dwell in my fear or uncertainty, I might pick up my kindle and read and gather more book quotes for my never-ending collection. Or I gather my laptop to escape my restless thoughts in my writing. Because I realize that “You can’t run from destiny. It follows you wherever you go.” (Destiny Calling)

As a writer, putting words on the page is very soothing and gives me somewhat of a sense of control. “I held the fate of the paragraph under my fingertip. I pressed the delete button.” (Evil Speaks Softly)

Once in a while I might glance to the spot where I thought I might see something lurking in the shadows and wondered if my eyes deceived me. “I wanted it to be true just to validate he wasn’t crazy, but believing his claims meant I already was.” (Evil Speaks Softly)

“Parting is such sweet sorrow, that I shall say good night till it be morrow.” (Romeo and Juliet)

Well, I’ve pondered this awhile and apparently I can’t seem to come up with a favorite book quote.

It's almost as if #book #quotes have become part of my vocabulary. Click To Tweet
MFRW Blog Challenge on book quotesThis post is already quite long-winded. “I mentally counted what I had left. Not much, but I was used to getting by on little more than air and attitude.” (Destiny Calling)

But I wanted to leave you with a few thoughts before you move on to see the other authors favorite book quotes.

“All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost. The old that is strong does not wither, deep roots are not reached by the frost.”

The Fellowship of the Ring

  1. OMG….I totally forgot about my favorite line from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire!! “I like a swift breeze ’round my privates.” When my kids and I read that, we laughed so hard we had tears in our eyes! Gotta go back and add it….

  2. First, LOVE the new look of your blog!

Awesome collection of quotes and enjoyed how you seamlessly weaved them into post. I need to start keeping notes of things that stand out to me instead of letting them become victims of my bad memory.
