Great story and never thought about how correct you are that elementary school has it right! Well, yes every day should be Valentine’s Day, and you should celebrate love, Valentine’s Day is a sweet reminder to make sure you do it! Too often life gets in the way and we forget. It doesn’t have to be pricey or fancy, sometimes it’s the simplest things that mean the most. I sent in kisses for my son to share with the boys at his lunch table. ( secretly I was hoping he would do this and not save them to pass out to girls- I agree relationships are pushed way to early in teens when they don’t know themselves) he came home from school to tell me I shared them,telling the guys at the high school lunch table-here these are from my mom in case your mom doesn’t love you. While a typical teenage boy response to his buddies to me it meant he certainly knew he was loved by me,his mom and was letting them all know that! Best present and it didn’t cost a thing! Of course I will take the dozen red roses from my husband anytime and I loved the ones he got me this year, but my son’s sentiment was just as great! Of course I told him he shouldn’t have said it that way but I was beaming inside with pride from ear to ear- lol. Thanks for the recipe what a great way for me to use up those leftover choc. Chips from the Xmas cookies I never made.

If a couple has to wait until Valentine’s Day to express their love or recognize how important their significant other is, then I’d be worried. As you and others have said, we express our love daily. It may not be with flowers and candy, but it’s sincere. Your hubs sounds like a great guy. Good catch!

Like you & your Hubs, mine & I have been together a long time. 44 years and counting. We’ve had great times and some not so great. Through it all, we hung onto each other and got through it. Valentine’s Day might be just another day to some. I usually make his fav meal and he brings me flowers. So sweet. A week later is his birthday so we do something different each year. I’m glad we found each other.
