Diane, I had a similar experience at my first RWA conference. Sooo many authors welcomed me and included me in their activities. I went alone, but never felt alone! Such a great experience! Loved all the tips, Maureen!

Thanks, Darcy, for the tip about the bag. Great suggestions for attending a conference. The 1st time I went to an RWA conference (back in 1994, I think), I went alone but was “adopted” by others who welcomed me so warmly into their groups. If you see someone alone (or looking lost) welcome them, include them in your group. Most of all, have fun! Sure, it’s a business trip. That doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy yourself.
